SUMMARY:Rally at Senator Daines' Office
DESCRIPTION:This action was originally planned in response to the war in Venezuela. Since then\, the world has continued to unravel at a familiar pace\, and who knows what unforeseen\, yet somehow entirely predictable event we’ll wake up to tomorrow….. Please use your signs and your comments to speak to whatever is weighing most heavily on your heart in this moment. \nWhen: Friday\, January 9\, 10:00 – 11:00 am \nWhere: Public sidewalks at W. Oak St. & Twin Lakes Ave. \nWhat to Expect: We’ll rally outside of Daines’ office with signs and take turns entering the office in pairs to deliver our messages directly to Senator Daines’ staff. \nHow to Prepare: Bring your written comments and signs — or just come to stand in solidarity. \n*Note – if you do not intend to go in the office to meet with the Senator’s staff\, please park on the public streets instead of in the building’s parking lot. \nA core principle behind all Indivisible Bozeman events is a commitment to nonviolence in words and action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events.

SUMMARY:Free America Walkout - Protest March!
DESCRIPTION:On January 20 at 2:00 PM\, people across the country will withdraw their labor and walk out together as a visible act of solidarity and resistance. \nIf you’d like to walk in community\, gather at the Courthouse at 2:00 PM. Bring a sign that reflects what you are walking out for—or walking away from. Those who are able are invited to walk together along Main Street\, from the Courthouse to Rouse and back\, before we wrap up at 3:00 PM. \nThis walkout is part of the Free America Walkout\, led nationally by the Women’s March and the 50501 movement (https://www.freeameri.ca/). \nWHY WE WALK One year into Trump’s second term\, our communities are facing escalating threats to our freedoms—through fear\, division\, surveillance\, and violence aimed at silencing dissent. In response\, we choose to stand together\, withdraw our participation in systems of harm\, and make our presence—and our values—visible. \nPast marches have shown our collective power. This walkout is about taking the next step: disrupting business as usual\, strengthening community bonds\, and affirming our commitment to care\, dignity\, and justice. \nThis is both a protest and a promise. \n★ We walk away from fascism. \n★ We walk toward a Free America. \n★ We fight for a future that belongs to all of us. \n★ Everybody in. Nobody out. \nWelcome to the Free America Walkout!\nPlease register so we know how many people to expect – https://www.mobilize.us/indivisiblebozeman/event/879645/ \nIf you prefer to stand or sit in one location\, we’ll meet you back at the Courthouse.

SUMMARY:CITY HALL - Film Screening and Discussion Panel
DESCRIPTION:City government touches almost every aspect of our lives. Most of us are unaware of or take for granted these necessary services such as police\, fire\, sanitation\, veterans affairs\, elder support\, parks\, licensing of various professional activities\, recordkeeping of birth\, marriage and death as well as hundreds of other activities that support a city’s residents\, businesses and visitors. CITY HALL\, by Frederick Wiseman\, shows the efforts by Boston city government to provide these services. The film also illustrates the variety of ways the city administration enters into civil discourse with the citizens of Boston. Mayor Martin J. Walsh and his administration are presented addressing a number of their policy priorities which include racial justice\, affordable housing\, climate action\, and homelessness. CITY HALL shows a city government successfully offering a wide variety of services to a diverse population. (Kanopy.com) \nSara Rushing\, one of the event organizers\, reminds us that\, “City government is one of the most important things we share!” CITY HALL is the first of MSU’s 2026 Spring Public Events Series\, “Public Things: Conditions for a Sustainable Democracy.” \nCITY Hall is 4.5 hours long\, so please feel free to attend any or all of the screening. There will be a break for a panel discussion from 5:30-6:30p with Bozeman Mayor-Elect Douglas Fisher\, Gallatin County Commissioner Jen Boyer\, Senator Cora Neuman\, Representative Peter Strand\, Bozeman City Attorney Greg Sullivan and Faculty Senate Chair Rob Maher. \nWhen: January 22nd starting at 4pm\nWhere: MSU Procrastinator Theater\, Strand Union Building\, 751 Grant Avenue \nFor previews of CITY HALL\, please visit https://www.pbs.org/show/city-hall/\nFor a review of CITY HALL\, please visit https://www.npr.org/2020/10/30/929100380/an-action-packed-doc-about-local-government-its-all-in-wiseman-s-city-hall
