DESCRIPTION:Montana Energy is holding public input meetings before submitting its 20 year plan to the Public Service Commission. Bozeman’s meeting is scheduled for Wednesday\, February 4th from 5:30p-7:30p in the Community Room at the Bozeman Public Library. \nAccording to Montana Public Radio –\n“NorthWestern Energy’s Integrated Resource Plan compares different energy choices the company could make to power homes and businesses across Montana. \nEnvironmental advocates have voiced concerns over the plan\, saying it favors more expensive\, polluting forms of energy over renewables like wind and solar. Nick Fitzmaurice is with the Montana Environmental Information Center. \n“The majority of scenarios that NorthWestern ran shows them heavily relying on their existing coal power from Colstrip plant\, and then building additional gas power\, and then eventually replacing Colstrip with nuclear power\,” Fitzmaurice says. \nNuclear is the most expensive power source. DESCRIPTION:Professor Roger Berkowitz\, founder and academic director of the Hannah Arendt Center for Politics and Humanities at Bard College\, will be giving a guest lecture\, “Truth and Power: How a Politics of Friendship Can Help Rebuild a Broken World” on Thursday\, February 5th from 3:00-4:20p at MSU’s Romney Hall\, Room 008. \nRoger Berkowitz is an American scholar and professor whose work focuses on politics\, philosophy\, and law. He is recognized as a leading scholar on the political thinking of Hannah Arendt. His essays and commentary have appeared in publications including the Los Angeles Review of Books\, The New York Times\, The Paris Review\, Democracy: A Journal of Ideas\, and the Yale Journal of Law and the Humanities. Berkowitz is also known for making scholarly discussions of political theory and Hannah Arendt accessible to wider audiences through public writing\, podcasts\, and educational programming. \nThis lecture is open to the public.
