CI-132 – Defend Montana’s Tradition of Nonpartisan Courts

What does the CI-132 initiative do?

Constitutional Initiative 132 (CI-132) defends Montana’s long tradition of nonpartisan courts. Montana has been electing judges via nonpartisan elections since 1935. CI-132 protects our long-standing tradition of selecting judges based on the person, not the political party.

Why now?

Politicians in Helena are attempting to make judicial elections partisan. It’s time to secure our courts from the threat of political control. CI-132 helps ensure that judges are accountable to the citizens of Montana, not politicians, party bosses, or political donors.

What phase are we in?

We are in the signature-gathering phase required to get this on the November ballot so that Montanans have the opportunity to vote to pass this initiative. Without qualified signatures, we won’t even have the opportunity to vote on this!

How to help now!

Help us gather signatures to get CI-132 on the November ballot! ✍️On Thursday, March 12, from 6:00-7:00Forward Montana is hosting a training to become a signature gatherer for this initiative.
