Montanans Want Corporate $$$ Out Of Our Elections!
Montanans hate what corporate money has done to our political process. It’s time to fight back!
A ballot initiative, The Montana Plan – Transparent Election Initiative, will shut down Citizens United and corporate money in our elections. If you are unfamiliar with the Transparent Election Initiative and how it will stop corporate influence in Montana’s elections, please visit transparentelections.org.
In order to put the Transparent Election Initiative on the November, 2026 ballot, thousands of signatures will need to be collected. In Montana, constitutional initiatives must collect signatures from 10% of qualified voters (60,241 for 2026) and at least 40 legislative districts must be represented by at least 10% of their voters. Ballot initiative petitions must be submitted before June 19th. Presently, the Transparent Election Initiative is waiting for approval from Montana’s Attorney General and he will likely disqualify it. Then the Initiative organizers will go to the Montana Supreme Court for approval. The bottom line is there will be a very short window for collecting signatures before the Secretary of State’s deadline to put the Initiative on the November ballot.

Montana can lead the way in showing states how to get corporate money out of elections across the U.S.!
Nationally, organizers are working on a Constitutional (federal!) amendment to “restore reasonable limits on money in our campaigns and elections.” To learn more about the For Our Freedom Amendment, please watch Heather Cox Richardson’s interview with Amendment organizer and author of “Corporations Are Not People,” Jeff Clements. Support Gallatin County Families and Kids
Nearly 2,500 Gallatin County residents, including approximately 945 children, rely on SNAP every month. This is a hard time of the year for so many families and homeless kids and another shutdown is looming at the end of January. We are fortunate to have organizations that provide ongoing support to our county’s families but they are carrying a heavy load right now and need all the help they can get.
Please consider donating goods, time or funds to support these organizations.
Family Promise’s wish list can be found at here. Some identical or comparable items are available at Costco and dropped off at 1603 Tschache Lane.
Advice from
How You Can Help
Support local food programs. Donations to food banks or organizations serving families facing food insecurity ensure they can purchase exactly what’s needed, when it’s needed.
Give grocery gift cards. Gift cards to local stores help families buy essentials with flexibility and dignity. Consider donating cards to organizations supporting neighbors experiencing food insecurity.
Ask organizations what they need. If there’s a nonprofit you already support, reach out to see what they need most, whether that’s food, supplies, volunteers, or financial donations.
